NCSU College of Design Camps. The purpose of these camps is to expose high school students to academic and professional pursuits in architecture, graphic design, landscape architecture, art + design and industrial design. Annual Triangle Youth Leadership Conference will be held at NC State Univ. We are seeking motivated students in any high school grade to apply. The two-day conference will take place on NC State’s campus in February. The conference will cost $110 per student. This cost includes lodging for one night and five meals. Some highlights of past year’s conferences include: Workshops presented by N.C. State students on tangible skills such as charismatic leadership, design thinking, harnessing your own personality, followership and other types of leadership, becoming legendary through professionalism and team dynamics. Real-life problem-solving challenges such as fish kills, homelessness, voter apathy, urban congestion, obesity and environmental degradation. Guest speakers and panelists from the N.C. UNC Project UPLIFT Project Uplift is a special program that enables high-achieving rising seniors to experience college life on the Carolina campus. Central Electric Membership Corp. & Randolph Electric Membership Corp. is paying for 4 students in their area to attend the Rural Electric Youth Tour in Washington, DC in June.  You will meet with congressmen, visit government agencies & historical sites, as you learn more about government & cooperatives.  See me for an application ASAP.  This is a cool program.

VetCAMP will house up to 52 high school students on UGA’s campus for seven days for those interested in a career in veterinarian medicine . During the program, students will be involved in various activities aimed at evaluating their skills and competitiveness as future veterinarians, providing mentorship and helping them experience veterinary medicine as an exciting career path. Basics of Biotech

Description: Explore biotechnology! This course gives students an introduction into the careers of a biotechnologist. Students learn through experiences with molecular biology lab techniques, e-textiles, 3D printing, and other experiences in the world of microbes. Additionally, students will learn why it is sometimes important to keep things scrupulously clean, and how it feels to work in an ultra clean environment. Description: Take your beginning cake decorating skills to the next level! Learn how to work with rolled fondant, gum paste, and royal icing; cover square cakes; prepare drapes; paint on fondant; create facial expressions on fondant characters – and more! Welding Boot Camp
Description: Let the sparks fly! Put on a welder’s mask and outfit and learn how metal cutting and welding work and how they are all around you every day. Supplies and lunch will be provided. Work boots are required for access to the Welding Lab setting and must be worn both days of the camp. No access will be permitted without work boots.  View Additional Information

 

Wildlife Science Summer Program
Description: This program is designed for students who have an interest in conservation, animal medicine and wildlife studies. Young Writers’ Camp
Description: Campers will create 21st century texts using digital tools such as storyboarding, blogging, and movie-making during this two week camp experience. In daily writing workshops, students will work with UNCG faculty, graduate students, NC teachers, and local authors. The camp introduces young writers to the writing process, unlocks strategies of professional writers, and supports development of variety of writing styles. Youth Digital: Server Design Camp (Rising 3-9 Grades)
Description: Kids learn to code in Java™, the most widely-used programming language in the world, including programming methods, parameters, if-then statements, booleans, instantiation and arrays to customize their server. 21st Century Community Learning Centers
Description: An afterschool program that assists students in core subjects (math, reading, science, social studies) by providing out-of-school time services to students and their families through community learning centers that offer an array of enrichment activities to complement regular academic programs. The program reinforces and compliments the skills students need for transitioning into high school, decreasing summer loss, increasing post-secondary enrollment and preparing for workforce success.  View Additional Information

 

3D Animation for Video Games
Description: This camp teaches students how to create 3D computer animations using the industry software, 3D Studio Max. They'll begin with learning the tools and the basics of animation. Employing the use of motion capture software and the Xbox Kinect, they'll create key-framed animations set to audio using pre-made rigs. Last, they'll learn how to clean up the mo-cap keys for smooth playback using MotionBuilder software, and render a high resolution movie clip of their animation.  View Additional Information
