Chatham County Public Libraries are excited to introduce our partnership with Chatham County Schools called Chatham PASS (Public Library Access for Student Success). This program is open for all students in Chatham County Schools!

The Chatham PASS program uses students’ PowerSchool ID number to access the public library’s digital and physical materials through any Chatham County Public Library location. This program expands access to library resources for increased student success. Your child’s Chatham PASS can help them complete schoolwork and improve reading skills.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who Can Participate?

Beginning in the Fall of 2019, all Chatham County Schools students are eligible to participate in this program! An opt-out form is sent home each fall to re-affirm parent/guardian preference for this program.

Do I need a library card?

No! Once your student is eligible to participate, they will use their PowerSchool ID number as their library code at both school at Chatham County Library branches!

What will my student have access to at the public library?

Your student will be able to check out 10 items at one time including:

  • print materials

  • juvenile and young adult audiobooks

Your student will also be eligible to use the Internet through the public library. Click here for more information on the Chatham County Libraries' Computer and Internet Access Policy.

Will my student be responsible for overdue fees?

Students will not be responsible for late fees as a part of Chatham PASS.

Please keep in mind that lost or damaged library materials will result in a fee based on the value of the item.

What constitutes a lost material?

Materials become lost/long overdue in the library system at 42 days (6 weeks) past the due date.  Accounts with long overdue or lost materials will be blocked from checking out additional materials from a Chatham County Public Library until items are returned or replacement fees are paid.

Is my student limited to using the branch closest to my home?

No! Your student may visit any of the Chatham County Library branches.
