Chatham County Schools offers a K-12 comprehensive arts education program that rigorously follows the North Carolina Arts Standard Course of Study. Students in Kindergarten through eighth grade have classes in visual arts, general music, along with choral and instrumental music in the upper grades. Classes in visual arts, choral and instrumental music, theater and dance are offered at all four traditional high schools in grades 9-12. Chatham County Schools has been recognized by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) as a Best Community for Music Education for a sixth consecutive year. Each year,  Chatham County students win regional, state and national honors in all areas of the arts.
